How we handle your personal information.
Last updated October 2026. Buyers Boutique, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. QLD real estate licence 4787931.
Who we are
Buyers Boutique is a buyer's agency helping Australian property investors choose and complete property purchases. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and, for clients in Queensland, by the conduct obligations that apply to licensed real estate agents. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
We collect what we need to talk to you and, if you engage us, to do the work.
- Contact details. Name, email address, mobile number, and how you would like us to communicate.
- Newsletter subscriptions. Your email address, optional first name, and a record of your explicit newsletter consent and submission.
- What you tell us about your goals. Whether this is a first or subsequent purchase, your timing, and what you want help with.
- If you engage us, your financial position. Budget, borrowing position, existing property, and the information your advisers share with your consent. We ask for this only when it is needed for the strategy and feasibility stages, never on a public form.
- Call notes and recordings. Discovery and strategy calls may be transcribed by an AI notetaker so that we can keep an accurate record of what you told us. We tell you before the call starts. You can ask us not to record, and you can ask us to delete a transcript.
- How you found us. Campaign and referral information (such as UTM parameters and the page you arrived on), so we know which of our advertising or referral partners brought you here.
Why we collect it
- To arrange and hold a discovery call, strategy session or feasibility confirmation.
- To send the Buyers Boutique newsletter when you have chosen to subscribe, and manage your subscription and unsubscribe requests. You can unsubscribe through the link in an email or by contacting us.
- To prepare a buying brief, a shortlist of areas and property recommendations, and to coordinate the purchase you engage us for.
- To communicate with your advisers, and with the licensed local agent involved in sourcing, when you have asked us to.
- To meet our legal obligations, including record keeping under real estate licensing law and anti-money laundering requirements.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to do the work you have asked for:
- The licensed local agent involved in sourcing in the market you are buying in, to the extent needed to search and negotiate for you.
- Your own advisers (broker, accountant, financial planner, conveyancer, property manager) when you have asked us to work with them.
- Service providers who run our systems: our customer relationship and booking platform (GoHighLevel), Google Workspace (email, calendar and Meet), and our website host. Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
- Where the law requires it.
If we recommend a partner in our network and we have a paid referral arrangement with them, we will disclose that upfront. You are always free to choose your own advisers.
How we keep it safe
Your information is held in access-controlled systems with two-factor authentication. Only Jaq and Mike hold accounts on our client platform. We keep information for as long as we need it to do the work and to meet our record-keeping obligations, then delete or de-identify it.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics is optional. We load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics only after you choose Accept analytics. Before you choose, and when you choose Reject, these Google tracking services stay off. After acceptance, they receive technical information such as the page address, device and browser information, and IP address, and may store analytics cookies. They may process information outside Australia. Advertising tracking stays off.
The website stores campaign and referral details in your browser and passes relevant campaign details to our booking calendar. It also remembers when you close the newsletter pop-up for 30 days and whether it has appeared during your current browsing session. The newsletter form is loaded from GoHighLevel when you open it and uses its own cookie-consent controls. Those controls apply to the form, rather than all website analytics.
Accept analytics and Reject are available in our analytics choice panel. We remember your choice in a first-party preference cookie for 180 days. If your browser cannot save it, you may be asked again. Use Analytics preferences in the footer to revisit your choice or withdraw consent by choosing Reject. Turning analytics off refreshes the page and clears accessible Google Analytics cookies; it does not undo information already sent while analytics was accepted. If JavaScript is disabled, these Google tracking services stay off.
This choice controls our Google analytics, not the separate booking, newsletter or Google review embeds. Those services may contact their providers and use their own cookies. You can also restrict cookies through your browser settings. Contact us if you have questions about our use of analytics.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to stop sending you marketing, or ask us to delete a call transcript. Email jacquelyn@buyersboutique.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change and show the date at the top.
